Porcelain Espresso Mugs Sonetto, Set of 6

"Sonetto"—Italian for "sonnet"—refers to the oldest form of Italian poetry, a poem designed for melodic recitation. With this new collection, Rosenthal has created a veritable poem in porcelain. Instead of stanzas and verses, the line orchestrates organic and floral shapes alongside a variety of materials, allowing culinary highlights to be artfully showcased on different levels. The plates play with varying heights and depths, as well as *trompe-l’œil* effects; for instance, a raised, blossom-shaped central area elevates the finest dishes onto a sort of pedestal. Floral motifs also appear in the design of the various bowls and cups, as well as in small details like the cup handles. In terms of color, the collection features delicate white glazes—some glossy, others matte—complemented by elegant gold rims. Conversely, items crafted from stoneware—such as footed bowls, standard bowls, pitchers, and small vessels (with or without lids)—offer a striking contrast to the fine porcelain pieces, thanks to their robust forms and raw, handcrafted character.
