Make sure the travertine is completely dry afterwards. As travertine is a porous material, it’s important not to let any liquids, including water, dry on the surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, dusting sprays, furniture polish, or harsh chemicals that could damage the stone. Additionally, as a soft limestone, travertine is sensitive to moisture and acidic substances. Protect it from spills, especially from colored liquids like wine, ketchup, coffee, or fruit juice, as well as acidic liquids like juice or vinegar. Always wipe spills off immediately to prevent staining or discoloration.
