At home with Thomas Mang on Lake Constance

A Villa Steeped in History

Whenever architect and interior designer Thomas Mang works in Lindau, this 1950s villa becomes his home. In his hometown, he has created a space that preserves the house’s history while bearing his own distinctive signature – inspired by travel, art and design.

Old meets New

Thomas Mang refers to his style as ‘Modern Classic’ – and it shapes the character of this 2024-renovated villa. Original features like its rounded arches, staircase balustrades and coffered ceilings meet contemporary furniture, design classics and art. For him, balance is key: new additions must complement the original architecture without diminishing its retro charm.

Design accents in focus

In the living room, generous upholstered furniture meets sculptural forms and carefully curated design accents. A look that works with just a few special touches!

Something truly special: the INTERCONNECT candle holder by Audo Copenhagen turns its geometric silhouette into a sculptural work of art for your coffee table.

Room for cosiness

An open fire, a great read or an aperitif with friends – the fireplace is Thomas Mang’s personal favourite. Richly textured surfaces and striking materials give the space depth, making it particularly cosy.

A must-have for recreating the look: the GUBI PIETRA side table brings a striking mix of natural texture and modern design into your home.
